Concert

I enjoy painting people and interesting things. My goals and intentions were to make this painting look energetic and fun like concerts are. I accomplished them by using small and quick brush strokes. My painting is about a concert that I attended in September.
The most difficult challenge I had to face was making the crowd look energetic. I met the challenge by painting quickly and making the painting look messy but real.
I've learned a lot about using the paint to its full potential. If I use more paint I can move it around the canvas. Ron Donoughe is an artist mentor that I work from.
Lauren Cook is another student in my class whos painting is very special and luscious. She knows how to work with paint.
If I had a do over I would use more paint and make the painting thicker but I am still happy with how it turned out.

Artist Statement

My goals and intentions in this artwork was to just start at a point and keep going to whatever comes up next. I accomplished the goals by keeping a good measurement of everything. I covered half of the page with shadow and kept interesting shadows on the other side. The most difficult challenge that I had to face was the shapes of some of the shadows. I met the challenge by just looking at the mirror and not the paper and just doing it without looking at the paper. I have learned that I should zoom out more for my next drawing. A student from the class that helped me learn from their drawing/painting was Stephanie Chervenkov. If I had a do-over I would zoom out a lot and think about it that way.

Black Shoe

I had a lot of fun painting this because I've never used a palet knife before and I actually like using the palet knife better than a brush. I really found out a lot about myself as an artist while I painted this and I learned a lot. I really thought a lot about the shapes of color that was reflected on my shoe. I itemized when it came to this painting to get the reflections just right. Steph Carper did a really good job with this painting because she showed a lot of reflections and color in the black shoe. I chose to put my shoe on the left side so you can see the shadow of the show and shoelace. I like the size, view, placement of this painting very much.
