Artist Statement

My goals and intentions in this artwork was to just start at a point and keep going to whatever comes up next. I accomplished the goals by keeping a good measurement of everything. I covered half of the page with shadow and kept interesting shadows on the other side. The most difficult challenge that I had to face was the shapes of some of the shadows. I met the challenge by just looking at the mirror and not the paper and just doing it without looking at the paper. I have learned that I should zoom out more for my next drawing. A student from the class that helped me learn from their drawing/painting was Stephanie Chervenkov. If I had a do-over I would zoom out a lot and think about it that way.

Black Shoe

I had a lot of fun painting this because I've never used a palet knife before and I actually like using the palet knife better than a brush. I really found out a lot about myself as an artist while I painted this and I learned a lot. I really thought a lot about the shapes of color that was reflected on my shoe. I itemized when it came to this painting to get the reflections just right. Steph Carper did a really good job with this painting because she showed a lot of reflections and color in the black shoe. I chose to put my shoe on the left side so you can see the shadow of the show and shoelace. I like the size, view, placement of this painting very much.

Tall Glass of Water

For my tall glass of water oil painting I considered the size, view, placement. I put the glass in an interesting place and made the size of it interesting. I really thought of the water as shapes of dark and light colors. I also created a sense of transparency. My ellipses and and viewpoints are correct and consistent. My paint colors are very much clean and clear. I also completed the painting in the allotted time given to me. The object that I chose reflects that I like music. I was very focussed on my work the entire time I was doing it. I achieved a believable illusion of transparency while doing my oil painting sir.

Joy Series

My joy series is about live music. Live music is possibly my favorite thing. These three pictures are my interpretation of the musician Julian Casablancas.

Where Do I Spend My Time?

The places that I spend a lot of time is in the art wing and at the farm that I ride at. When I am out of school I am always at the farm helping out and when I am at school I am always in the art wing.
